The initial idea of this commemorative project came from Alpharetta’s Veterans Memorial Park, which was constructed in 2003 to commemorate the men and women who served in the armed forces. The park features a series of stepping stones with engraved plaques containing names of those who fought in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. This plaza serves as a reminder of their sacrifice for those who call Alpharetta home. As the project grew in size and scope, it became known as the Walk of Memories. The Alpharetta City Council moved the memorial project from the local high school to its present location at the Veterans Park. The Walk of Memories consists of several parks, including City Green and Ridge Red Clay, which offer peaceful respite spots for visitors to relax and reflect.
